Presiden: Tidak Boleh Menghalang-halangi Mahasiswa Berekspresi
JURNALJATENG.ID, JAKARTA – Presiden Joko Widodo menanggapi kritik yang dilontarkan Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa (BEM) Universitas Indonesia (UI) kepada dirinya. Menurut Presiden, kritik para mahasiswa tersebut merupakan bentuk ekspresi mahasiswa yang diperbolehkan di negara demokrasi seperti Indonesia.
“Bentuk ekspresi mahasiswa dan ini negara demokrasi jadi boleh-boleh saja,” kata Presiden Joko Widodo melalui siaran virtual yang ditayangkan oleh Sekretariat Presiden pada Selasa (29/6/2021).
Terkait dengan kritik tajam, Presiden mengakui, kerapkali menerima berbagai kritik tersebut dari medium platform media sosial atau aplikasi daring. Dan hal tersebut, dilakukan oleh berbagai elemen masyarakat, tidak hanya dilakukan oleh para mahasiswa.
Oleh karena itu lanjut presiden, bentuk ekspresi yang ditunjukkan mahasiswa beberapa waktu lalu itu tidak boleh dihalang-halangi oleh pemangku kepentingan yang terkait. Termasuk dari institusi pendidikan yang menaungi para mahasiswa tersebut dalam menempuh gelar akademisnya.
Namun demikian, Kepala Negara mengingatkan bahwa bangsa Indonesia memiliki budaya-budaya tata krama dan sopan santun. Presiden juga memandang kritik para mahasiswa kepada dirinya sebagai suatu hal yang biasa.
“Mungkin mereka sedang belajar mengekspresikan pendapat, tapi yang saat ini penting kita semuanya bersama-sama fokus untuk penanganan pandemi Covid-19,” ungkapnya.
Untuk diketahui, sebelumnya BEM UI pada Sabtu, 26 Juni 2021, melontarkan kritik kepada Presiden Joko Widodo yang disampaikan melalui unggahan di akun Twitter resmi @BEMUI_Official. Dalam unggahan tersebut, BEM UI menyebut Presiden Joko Widodo sebagai “The King of Lip Service”.
Kritik serupa sebelumnya pernah juga diterima Presiden dari sejumlah kalangan. Diantaranya presiden dibilang klemar-klemer, ada yang bilang juga plonga-plongo, kemudian ganti lagi ada yang bilang otoriter, kemudian ada juga yang ngomong bebek lumpuh, dan baru-baru ini ada yang ngomong sebagai Bapak Bipang, dan terakhir ada yang menyampaikan mengenai the king of lip service,” .
