Raja Porang, Lulusan SD Membina Ribuan Petani
JURNALJATENG.ID, MADIUN – MENGUTIP pandangan Rocky Gerung, ijazah itu hanya tanda yang bersangkutan pernah bersekolah formal. Sedangkan kecakapan merupakan pengalaman yang terasah, hingga melahirkan kesanggupan menangani persoalan.
Adalah Koimin, 50 tahun, warga Desa Bodag, Kecamatan Kare, Kabupaten Madiun, Jawa Timur, yang saat ini dijuluki raja porang di wilayahnya.
Porang merupakan jenis tanaman umbi umbian, bernama biologi amorphophallus muelleri. Atau dengan nama lain iles iles, yang serumpun dengan suweg dan walur.
Sebelum akhirnya disadari tanaman tersebut memiliki nilai ekonomis menggiurkan, tanaman yang tumbuh di dataran rendah hingga 1000 meter di atas air laut itu berkembang liar di lereng Gunung Wilis, daerah tempat tinggal Koimin.
Awalnya tidak ada petani yang ngreken. Masyarakat setempat membiarkan tanaman itu meliar diantara belukar. Dianggap tidak bermanfaat. Malahan mereka menganggap lebih menguntungkan suweg dan walur (serupa), karena masih bisa dikonsumsi.
Padahal tanaman itu sudah liar sejak moyangnya, tumbuh diantara kerindangan pepohonan hutan, yang bisanya hidup memang memerlukan naungan hingga 60 %.
Koimin yang cuma lulusan sekolah dasar itu mulai angkat tindakan. Pada kisaran tahun 2006, setelah sebelumnya dia dan para petani lain mendapat pengarahan dari pihak Perhutani KPH Lawu DS, melalui kelompok masyarakat pengelola sumber daya hutan (MPSDH).
“Awalnya saya dan kelompok MPSDH diberi arahan Perhutani. Bahwa porang itu memiliki nilai ekonomi sangat tinggi. Dan mulailah saya menerapkannya,” ucap Koimin, mengawali bicaranya dengan jurnalis, Minggu (14/03).
Suami Suhariyani dan ayah dua anak, Pipit dan Habib, itu langsung tancap gas. Menanam beberapa tanaman porang lalu menjualnya, dan laku.
Dia semakin terangsang oleh porang. Hingga dia pun melepas profesi lamanya sebagai penjual sayur, keluar masuk keliling kampung.
Jatuh bangun bagi wirausahawan itu pasti terjadi. Wajar. Lumrah. Seperti yang dia alami.
Beberapa tahun lalu, sewaktu hubungan RI – China memburuk akibat sengketa perbatasan teritorial laut, dia pun turut merugi. Pasalnya, porang yang dia beli dari para petani binaannya, jauh lebih rendah dari harga yang ditetapkan pabrik tempatnya memasok porang.
Dia tidak menyerah. Dia teringat ucapan Dahlan Iskan, yang ‘mendoakan’ para wirausahawan pemula agar bangkrut. Filosifi tersebut memberi arti, agar otak pengusaha bangkrut segera ‘berbicara’. Agar bangkit.
Dan benar. Koimin tidak patah arang. Dia makin rajin dan hati hati dalam mengelola informasi (baik tentang harga maupun kondisi sosial), yang sangat mungkin berdampak pada maju mundurnya usaha.
Rasa pantang menyerah itu tidak sia sia. Kekuatan iman, jujur dan percaya diri dia jadikan landasan untuk berjalan. Ibarat laju sang mentari, usahanya pun semakin bergerak meninggi.
“Betul. Memang, semua ini saya lakukan dengan alasan beribadah dan kejujuran,” ungkap Koimin membuka rahasia keberhasilannya.
Dikatakannya, semua yang kita lakukan hendaknya didasarkan kepada ngibadah kepada Allah Swt. Jangan dengan lainnya.
Kemudian, dalam berbisnis itu juga harus terlandasi nilai nilai kejujuran. “Misalnya petani binaan saya menjual porang kepada saya. Saya timbang. Kalau jatuhnya timbangan 1Kg lebih 1 ons, ya harus saya sampaikan seberat itu,” tandasnya.
Dengan begitu, lanjut Koimin, semua langganan menjadi senang dan marem. Selisih berat timbangan seringan apa pun, tetap dia hargai dengan rupiah.
Alhasil, jumlah petani porang binaannya semakin meluas dan melebar hingga ke wilayah kecamatan lainnya.
Saat ini, di wilayah kecamatan tempat Koimin tinggal saja terdapat tak kurang dari 10 ribu petani porang. Wilayah dan jumlah petani itu ekspansif hingga ke kecamatan lain, Kecamatan Wungu, Dagangan, Gemarang dan sejumlah wilayah lainnya.
Selain dari petani binaan, Koimin mengaku juga tak malas bercocok porang sendiri. Dia sendiri sudah memiliki tak kurang dari tiga hektar lahan pribadi, yang di atasnya menghijau kebun porang.
Puluhan ribu petani tersebut setiap kali musim panen porang (masa panen porang antara 5 sampai 6 bulan), selalu menjualnya kepada Koimin.
Koimin membeli dari petani dengan harga antara Rp. 8000 sampai 13.000. Tinggi rendahnya harga tersebut, menurut Koimin, tergantung dari kondisi atau waktu bertransaksi. Bila sedang panen raya harga merendah. Dan begitu sebaliknya.
Mengacu catatan musim panen tahun 2020, Koimin berhasil memasok porang ke sejumlah pabrik di Gresik, Mojokerto dan Semarang sebanyak tak kurang dari 500 ton.
Sementara pabrik mengekspornya ke sejumlah negara, dengan pasokan terbesar ke China. Di negara tersebut porang diolah menjadi bahan makanan, dengan porsi 80%. Sisanya (20%) dipergunakan sebagai bahan kosmetik.
Dalam mengelola usahanya, Koimin mengaku jatuh bangunnya usaha yang dia arungi tidak pernah mendapat perhatian dari pemerintah daerah setempat. “Jadi murni ini jerih payah saya. Tidak ada campur tangan dari pemerintah daerah,” jelasnya.
Diungkapkan Koimin, dia belum pernah memperoleh perhatian dari dinas terkait, misalnya Dinas Pertanian atau Dinas Ketahanan Pangan Kabupaten Madiun.
Instansi terkait, dalam hal usaha Koimin, belum pernah, misalnya, melakukan pembinaan, menyediakan bibit unggul dan murah, menyediakan pembelinya. Atau pembinaan bercocok tanamnya.
“Dulu pernah ada pertemuan antara pihaknya, pabrik dan Bank BNI. Namun pihak bank tidak percaya apakah bisnis porang bisa dipercaya jika diberikan kredit. Akhirnya tidak dapat kredit. Biarlah,” akunya.
Bagi Koimin, tanpa uluran tangan pihak lain pun dia mengaku tidak menjadikannya berkecil hati. Sebab, baginya yang maha besar itu adalah campur tangan Allah Swt.
Bahkan, ke depan dan dengan permintaan kepada Allah Swt, dia berniat mengembangkan lahan porangnya hingga ke luar Jawa Timur. Bila perlu meluncur luar Jawa.
